Folkcraft® FSH Series Dulcimer, Walnut Body, Walnut Top

I bought my walnut FolkCraft dulcimer during a period in time that know must have been a challenging time for Richard and his team. They were slap in the middle of the move from IN to MI. Regardless of the challenges a move like this must have presented he and his team were always there to offer the best customer experience. At some point during this overall process of preparing my dulcimer, a dulcimer of the wrong VSL was shipped. When I made Richard aware of the issue, again, he extended the best customer care anyone could ask for and replaced this instrument and he corrected this error quickly. I will always be returning to FolkCraft every opportunity I have to buy another one of their fine crafted instruments. I think the next one I buy will be a California style body with an ebony fretboard. I had an opportunity to play one recently, and I love the feel of the ebony and rich tone of the larger CA body.

I recently received this fabulous dulcimer in the mail, and it plays beautifully. The intonation is spot-on, and the wood (all walnut) is gorgeous. Since it’s chromatic, it’ll be a while before I can play it well, but I’m happy with it so far. Also, the customer service is great. Jim and his crew are very nice people. They gave me lots of good advice prior to my purchase, and were really nice about changing the dulcimer to double-melody. Get a dulcimer- you won’t regret it.

What can I say, the instrument is beautiful looking, sounding, and crafted. This is actually my second folkcraft instrument. I bought the first one just a month earlier and was so taken by again it’s beauty craftsmanship and sound that I decided to try the Kentucky style instead of the California style, which was the style of my first instrument. Anyone looking for a mountain Dalsimer shouldn’t hesitate to buy from folkcraft. They also have excellent service and a great guy to talk to on the phone if you give them a call.
