Received two pair of hammers in the kit, already cut and rough shaped. Assembly was easy, using a bit of wood glue to attach the handles. I didn't care for the blackened edges where it had been cut with a laser, so I attached a sanding disk to my Dremel, and sanded everything and shaped the handles for a more comfortable fit. Finish was simple, using a clear coating. I did find the leather strip was quite long enough to cover all four hammers - the fourth was about 1/4"-3/8" shy.
I will say these hammers are light, about half the weight of my other hammers. I'm experimenting with wrapping silver wire around the handle down close to the head to increase the weight and action of the hammers; I should be able to find a nice balance. Overall though, a great way to get some backup or alternate hammers for your dulcimer!
Kit a great bargain, interactions with company were excellent.
I love the variety of hammers and picks. I use them everyday. Very happy with this product. And the arrived quickly.
They were easy to put togeather, I also had Folkcraft put the togeather the fret board which was a great help. They sound great and work well for some one who want to try and get start with learning. I have a program for beginner Dulicumer’s, and now they have 2 dulicumer for the program.
DIY project always a good challenge.
Putting them together the hardest thing was waiting for the glue to dry.
I painted mine and then rounded handles with a drum sander bit on a dremel
Light weight good balance . I really like them painted the features on the head of the hammer really popped out I will make the second pair when I can think of ways to improve on the first pair
