Folkcraft® Double Neck Dulcimers

A Folkcraft® double neck dulcimer puts two complete fretboards on one instrument, so you can switch tunings or voices in the middle of a song without changing instruments. It's built from the ground up for performers, and its larger body gives you more volume, sustain and tone.

Most players set up the near fretboard as a standard dulcimer and choose something different for the far one:

  • a second standard, in an alternate tuning
  • a baritone, four notes lower
  • a bass, an octave lower
  • a fully chromatic fretboard

You choose the body and top woods, sound holes, fretboard overlays, scale lengths and fret patterns for each side. Double neck dulcimers start at $1,995 and are handmade to order in our wood shop in Rock, Michigan. The cases, fret wire upgrades and fretboard veneer packages on this page are made to fit them.
