Courting Dulcimers

A courting dulcimer has two fretboards set opposite each other on one wide body, so two people can sit facing each other and play the same instrument together. It's a charming Appalachian tradition, and a wonderful instrument for couples, friends, or a teacher and student.

Our courting dulcimers are handmade to order in our wood shop in Rock, Michigan, in our California body size. You choose the woods, sound holes, scale length and fret pattern, and each one comes with our USA-made carrying case. Custom courting dulcimers start at $1,995.
