This is a 9/16 - 12 tap. You'll use it to pre-thread a 1/2" hole when installing our threaded end pin jack.

When we install our threaded end pin jacks in a finished dulcimer, we first drill a 1/2" diameter hole into the heel of the instrument, then we use this tap to add threads to the hole we just drilled. We can then screw in the threaded end pin jack. This allow us to solder the wire connections (for a pickup, generally) outside the dulcimer, then screw the endpin jack into the body for a solid, neat, and secure connection.

Another Awesome Folkcraft Dulcimer!

My husband decided to start learning dulcimer. He selected the FolkRoots H Series dulcimer with Engelmann Spruce/Walnut. He received it today, and just loves it!
