Folkcraft® Roller-Wound Brass Wound String, Loop End, .022

Item Number 9022076

Regular price $7.00

Our brass wound (roller-wound, abbreviated RW, or in the case of this particular string, .022RW) string has been (partially) flattened with rollers, which reduces the “squeak” you get with regular wound strings. Loop end, American made, and the best quality available from any source. This is a pack of one (single) brass roller-wound string.

This particular string is .022" (22/1000 of one inch) in diameter, and is sometimes called .022RW. Each brass-wound string has a total length of 45 1/2 inches (45.5"), and has approximately 45" of that total length covered with the brass winding.

Different size mt dulcimer strings

I ordered size 12, 14 & 24 loop strings.
First order was missing the 24s.
Contacted Folkcraft & within days they sent the 24s. Good company to work with.

Smooth transitions

Picked up a folkroot rugg n jackel at a flea market in Coventry ct this past summer. Vintage 1983. Cleaned it up and put a set of your strings. Very nice action. Fingers can slide easily no squeaks. Decent sound for its size.

Need some variation

I've played with our club, Blue Grass Dulcimer Club for many years. One day I decided I wanted to add another "sound" to our music. I built my first bass dulcimer, using the roller-wound strings from FolkCraft. Especially with those larger sizes....32, and especially .54 these strings are easier to play and with MUCH less "squeek". I think they're great!

First Glance

I like these strings as they are tightly attached to the ball end. I have a few loose balls that escaped and are hiding in the rug. Will only be found when the vacuum sucks them into the bag.
