Folkcraft® Roller-Wound Brass Strings, Ball Ends, Pack Of Twelve, .032

Item Number 9072279

Regular price $34.00

Twelve roller-wound brass strings. This is the string that Folkcraft started using for its dulcimer bass string back in 2012. A bit brighter, a bit smoother to the fingers, and a bit louder. The ultimate wound string for your dulcimer!

These strings are sometimes called "squeakless", and they certainly squeak less than regular (not roller-wound) strings. However, there's no such thing as an entirely squeakless string. We recommend these strings wholeheartedly.

This particular string is .032" (32/1000 of one inch) in diameter, and is sometimes called .032RW. Each string has a total length of 37 inches (37"), and has approximately 36" of that total length covered with the brass winding.

Need some variation

I've played with our club, Blue Grass Dulcimer Club for many years. One day I decided I wanted to add another "sound" to our music. I built my first bass dulcimer, using the roller-wound strings from FolkCraft. Especially with those larger sizes....32, and especially .54 these strings are easier to play and with MUCH less "squeek". I think they're great!

First Glance

I like these strings as they are tightly attached to the ball end. I have a few loose balls that escaped and are hiding in the rug. Will only be found when the vacuum sucks them into the bag.

Roller wound brass strings

These are by far the best bass strings I've ever played in my 23 years of dulcimer playing! No squeaks when sliding and they last a LONG time before going dead. I highly recommend them!

Roller-Wound are Great

I bought some of these individual Roller-Wound strings to make some custom dulcimer strings sets for myself. Love these, and it's nice that Folkcraft offers individual strings for this purpose.
