Design Your Own Folkcraft® Custom Series Mountain Dulcimer

The Folkcraft Custom Series mountain dulcimer has everything you might possibly want in a handcrafted instrument. Our largest body (8” wide at the lower bout, 2 1/4” deep), your choice of both domestic and exotic woods, and much, much more - from scale length to sound holes. Go crazy and configure YOUR ideal dulcimer!

Folkcraft Custom Series dulcimers are available in both a traditional Kentucky body and in a more contemporary California body. The Kentucky body creates a quieter, more subdued tone, and the California body offers a louder, more mellow, more guitar-like tone quality. More information can be found here.

Every instrument we design with you is built by hand, one at a time, in our workshop in Rock, Michigan. We've been making dulcimers since 1968, and each dulcimer carries our five-year warranty. It comes with our padded soft case, made in our shop (a rigid case is available as an upgrade), and strap buttons.

Not sure which options to choose? Our reference page explains them, and you're always welcome to call us at (317) 539-1855. Please allow three to four months for us to build your instrument.
