The dulcimers were a hit!
I ordered the dulcimers as part of our study of Appalachia; making them was a selling point. My students, grades 6,7 and 8, assembled them (we did get the prepared fret boards) and had a great time learning to play them.

These strings work amazingly well on the 4 string Lap-Jo because they have loop ends & actually the Roller wound strings have a smoother feel than the stainless steel wound strings plus the frets won't get scratched, but either way they still have that banjo twang due to that drumhead.
