This book is perfect, I bought it for my 2 grandsons that are interested in learning how to play the dulcimer.
This book offers a nice selection of beginning tunes. The tablature is helpful in learning where on the strings to place the fingers. What I found lacking were suggestions of which fingers to use when forming chords. For this, students of this instrument will need to search on YouTube where there are a number of instructors to help with this.
Bought this book to help me get started playing my mountain dulcimer. Good introduction to the instrument, tuning and playing.
It's a bit elementary but it's easier to learn if you're actually familiar with the tunes. Having the audio is a bonus. It makes me sound better.
I lead a dulcimer group in the southern Alabama. I called Richard about a month before I am ready to drive south and let him know which books I need, the good mailing address and when I’ll be there to receive them. That way he can make sure he has what I need but it is one less thing for me to pack. Voilà they materials I need are there waiting for me. Thank you Richard for making it so easy!
