Folkcraft® Custom Series Dulcimer, Cherry Body, Cedar Top

I am a complete beginner to a stringed instrument. Started out with a cardboard dulcimer that my daughter bought me to see if I would like it. Fell in love with the ease of learning to play a dulcimer and called the Folkcraft people. Got it very quickly. It is beautiful and sounds great!

Amazing! In my 50 years + of stringed instrument playing I can't remember such a seamless acquisition and such a perfectly constructed and beautiful tool. In my 3 weeks of ownership I'm amazed at the developing tone and voice. This instrument is a pure joy. Thank you!

The chromatic maxdad is the fun one because it sounds like a whole dulcimer choir from standard all the way down to bass. BTW the maxdad option on any dulcimer should have its own fretboard, 5 tuners on a traditional flathead (or contemporary flat head if possible) since it has 5 strings equally spaced apart.

I already gave my review of the Folkcraft Custom Dulcimer, so this review is strictly for the Fishman Prefix Pro Blend pickup. Richard installed this on my dulcimer a few years after I had gotten my custom dulcimer. He did a nice job and was very accommodating to get it done for me. The pickup itself is awesome, and worth every penny. I love its acoustic tone and the possible adjustments. Richard even sent me home with good suggestions and a written sheet to help with using the pickup. Whether you order this with your custom build or choose to get it later, it's a good pickup to have.
