This beautiful rosette pattern is modern take of a fleur-de-lis. This rosette, made of maple (which can be stained to other colors), may be used for hammered dulcimers, psalteries, and other instruments to add beauty and texture to your instrument. These rosettes are 1/8" thick and are available in both 2 3/16" diameter and 1 1/2" diameter.

Dulcimer Sound Hole Cover Rosettes

There is a relationship between total air hole area and body cavity volume. My 4 1-1/2” sound hole area is too large. So I am attempting to reduce the sound hole area through the use of rosettes. This should shift the tone more to the bass notes. Plus, they are just mighty attractive. So this was a trial to see if I could cut and glue the rosettes in place.

I was very pleased with the quality of the rosettes.

Viking Dulcimer

Prefect fit for my new dulcimer.
Bought the Folkcraft teardrop Dulcimer plan and have been building it for a few weeks. Added a Galax back and Journey tek pick up system. Hand carved Viking head. Turned to baritone, A-E-A. Honduras mahogany top, sides and backs. A walnut end and scroll. Mango wood for fret board and accents.

Beautiful rosette

These rosette's were beautiful and easy to with the correct size forstner bit. They added a very nice touch to my instrument and have gotten multiple compliments.
