Your Answers: What Scale Length Do You Play?

"I play with a 25 1/2 fretboard. I have very short fingers."
Name: Harold C

"26.5 inches. A little shorter might be better for my hands. Some chords are a stretch."
Name: JLT
Location: Sacramento CA
"Since I play instruments ranging from mandolin to dreadnought guitar, scale length doesn't matter too much to me. My two dulcimers are 25-1/2 in scale, but I think a smaller length would be more comfortable for the kind of stuff I play. That may be my next project, in fact."

"My dulcimers all have a VSL of 27 or less . Sometimes I have a hard time making the stretch on certain chords, so the shorter the VSL for me, the better."
Name: Steve A
Location: Woodburn, IN
"I started on a 29 inch and currently play on a 27. My next one will be 28 - I like the sound better"
Name: Gail B.
Location: Kingston, Ontario, Canada
"My favourite scale is 27 on a Folkroots walnut butternut hourglass. I have small hands and find this the most comfortable to play."
