Last week we asked, what's the funnest/craziest/most-off-the-wall thing you've seen at a music festival or jam? Here are your answers.
Name: David Scott
Location: Westerville, OH
"This probably occurred about 10 years ago. I was at Western Carolina and was in a workshop/jam on jug band music. The instructor made the assertion that any song can become a jug band tune. Some one suggested Amazing Grace so for the next 20 minutes or so we jammed on Amazing Grace with everyone taking solos. At one point Robert Force wandered in jammed for a bit took a solo. It was probably the first time someone looked at me and said take solo. I tried but I don't recall that it was memorable."
Name: Steve A.
Location: Woodburn, IN
At the Midwest Uke Fest a couple years ago there was a tornado warning during the Saturday night concert. When the alert was announced, Ehukai Teves was performing on stage. The concert hall was evacuated and everyone moved into a concrete block building, packed into an interior hallway for safety. Ehukai didn't miss a beat and continued the concert with his audience seated on the floor in front of him. To top it off, Lois Hornbostel stood behind him hula dancing!
