The Bing Futch Signature Resonator

We have been doing a lot of experimenting the last couple years with contrasting wood inlays, and coming up with some neat and very successful results. So when a loyal Folkcraft customer came to us with the idea of putting her dulcimer idols' signatures on an instrument, we said "Of course!" It eventually was dubbed her "Dulcimer Heroes" dulcimer, and features the penmanship of Bing Futch and Butch Ross.

Look closely - you'll see Bing's and Butch's signature in the headstock

Folkcraft Instruments endorser Bing Futch has had ideas for signature model dulcimers for quite some time. And now that we are actually putting signatures on the instruments, it was high time to let one of those ideas see the light of day. So the first Bing Futch Signature Model we tackled was the Folkcraft Resonator.

Maple in ebony in Honduras mahogany

Bing has a blues competition in Memphis coming up, and he's also begun recording on a blues album. The resonator was the obvious choice, and should enhance both of these musical endeavours. The entire instrument is Honduras mahogany with an ebony fingerboard overlay, and plenty of Bing-esque features that make it a Folkcraft Signature Model.

Maple dolphins are the fret markers

We finished the instrument this week. It turned out so well that we wanted Bing to have his hands on it ASAP. We expedited it to him in Orlando, where it was received with much rejoicing.

Delivered and at ease in Bing's throne

We're all looking forward to the music and smiles that Bing is sure to make with this gorgeous new instrument. As he stated in his Facebook post after receiving the resonator... "Memphis, here we come!"
