New Machines For The Sewing Room
I'm always on the lookout for a bargain, or a tool (even at full price) that will allow us to make things (dulcimers, ukuleles, cases, etc.) either better or more efficiently. Since we started making all of our cases in house, our sewing room has been getting far more tools than our woodshop. I guess it makes sense - we have woodshop tools going back to the earliest days of both Folkcraft and FolkRoots. We've been buying tools for the sewing room for less than a year and a half.
I got a deal on a couple of industrial machines - a Brother zig-zag sewing machine and a (free!!!!!) Chandler bartacking machine. I'll have to adjust the timing (yes, I've gotten pretty comfortable with sewing machine repair) and give them both a good cleaning/oiling, but then Nikki will be just a little bit more efficient in her case making duties.

Nikki's been a case-making madwoman the past few weeks. The cases shown are all of the new "deluxe rigid case" variety - multiple layers of foam, fabric, and plywood. Hopefully we'll be caught up on dulcimer cases really soon, and she'll be able to start making ukulele cases!
A couple more customized cases out the door.
