Druid Moon Ukuleles

Folkcraft is pleased to announce the Druid Moon ukulele line. We've been working on them for over two years. We know what you're thinking - "Two years?!" It's tough being perfectionists sometimes.

Druid Moon ukes are available in the standard sizes - soprano, concert, tenor and baritone. We've added the "Folkcraft touch" by offering many body and soundboard woods. This is a unique concept for the ukulele, and gives you more variety when choosing your instrument.

Each model of ukulele will have her own name. Pictured here are Michelle, Chloe and Hannah.

In addition to the ukulele, Folkcraft is proud to introduce the dulcilele. A dulcimer/ukulele hybrid, this instrument will have a diatonic fretting and be quite accessible to a dulcimer player. We've already begun sending them out to artists. In fact, Butch Ross has already started a buzz across the folk community:

Butch Ross's dulcilele (keyboard, mouse and cutting board not included).

Butch will be leading a beginner's ukulele class and jam session for the 2011 Indiana Dulcimer Festival.

And, as stated in yesterday's community post, Folkcraft owner Richard Ash will be on hand with a variety of Druid Moon ukuleles and dulcileles (in addition to Appalachian dulcimers) at the 2011 Ohio Valley Gathering on March 25, 26, & 27, 2011 at the Radisson Airport Hotel in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Looking for something new? Well, you've found it!

Pictured here is the first prototype Druid Moon ukulele, a veritable cornucopia of wood. One side of the body is black walnut, and the other is koa. The back is butternut, with western red cedar for the soundboard. African mahogany is used for the neck, headstock and bridge. And finishing off the fretboard is walnut. We started our ukulele journey with this prototype, and got a handle on how certain woods worked. Plenty of design changes followed, but this soprano ukulele symbolizes the spirit of Folkcraft, and our dream of providing the world with the best instruments possible.
