Dog Tone Holes, Embroidered Cases & Gold Frets

Our loyal customers have been taking advantage of the Folkcraft ability and willingness to customize instruments and accessories! The past few weeks, our "What's Going On In The Shop" section has featured a number of new and improved dulcimer and case options. A few new creations that have spawned from these articles are pictured below:

Custom dog tone hole

How have we gone this long without a dog tone hole?! We've got a cat, a horse, a hummingbird... but no man's best friend. The breed featured in the butternut soundboard above is a Vizsla.

Embroidered name/graphic combo for a custom case pocket

We've been putting names on a lot of cases lately. But someone asked, "What about graphics, too?" To which we replied, "Well let's find out!" The sample above was a successful combination of type and image. The graphics can't be too elaborate, but simple things like this design can be done well.

Gold Evo fret wire

Even the frets are changing! Evo gold fretwire is a copper alloy. It's slightly harder than our nickel/silver fret wire, so it will stand the test of time for the full-time players. It also helps to dress up the dulcimer a bit.
