Black Swamp Jam Starts Soon

Folkcraft is honored to be both sponsoring and hosting a new monthly acoustic instrument jam.

Beginning on Saturday, January 26, 2013, the "Black Swamp Jam" will be held in the Folkcraft Instruments concert hall. The jam will be held the fourth Saturday of every month thereafter (with the exception of the fourth Saturdays that fall between Thanksgiving day and New Year's day).

We've divided the day into three blocks of time. The first block (10:00 - 12:00) is open only to the Appalachian (mountain, lap) dulcimer.

The middle block (12:00 - 2:00) is open to any of the traditional acoustic jam instruments (dulcimers of all varieties including hammered, ukulele, guitar, fiddle, mandolin, tin whistle, bodhran, etc.).

The last block (2:00 - 4:00) is open only to the ukulele. The ukulele block is sponsored by the Fort Wayne, Indiana ukulele club, the TRU-ukes. The TRU-ukes is a dynamic and vibrant club that has a lot of fun with their regular get-togethers, and we're pleased that they've chosen to use the Folkcraft concert hall for their jam sessions.

We're excited to see what happens when we blend a dulcimer jam, which is usually traditional music, with a ukulele jam, which is usually filled with mostly modern repertoire.

There's no charge to take part in the Black Swamp Jam. For more information, please visit the BlackSwampJam.com web site.

As an added bonus, Folkcraft is providing a free lunch and a free Black Swamp Jam t-shirt to all the dulcimer and ukulele players that take part in the festivities on January 26.

We've prepared a flyer (PDF format) promoting the Black Swamp Jam. If you would like to print off copies to share with your friends, then here's the link: Black Swamp Jam flyer.

As always, thank you for reading. Hope to see you on January 26, 2013!

Richard
