Second Saturday Clinic With John Keane And Karen Keane - September 14, 2024

Item Number 90104245, Regular price $44.00

Join in the fun with two great artist/instructors: John Keane and Karen Keane - on this special Second Saturday Clinic hosted by Folkcraft Instruments. We'll have a jam at 10:00, followed by a clinic starting at noon. We'll take a lunch break around 1:00, and resume the clinic after eating.

The clinic is "hands-on" - bring your mountain dulcimer! Since we have two instructors, we'll break into smaller classes, and we'll have John and Karen work with their groups in different parts of our shop. Halfway through the afternoon, John and Karen will trade places, and work with the other group of attendees.

After we wrap up the class at about 4:00, you'll be serenaded with a 30-minute performance by our esteemed instructors.

John and Karen are Folkcraft Instruments endorsing artists.

Frequently Asked Questions

Location? Folkcraft Instruments Concert Hall, 22133 Main St., Woodburn, Indiana, 46797. We're next door to the Woodburn Post Office, and across the street from a liquor store.

Jam? The jam starts at 10:00 AM - it is a standalone event. The jam isn't part of the clinic, so if you're traveling from a distance, you won't miss any instructional material. But jams are fun, so definitely be here if you can.

Registration? We're limiting our class size to 30 guests. Please sign up early - I expect we'll "sell out" on a lot of our Clinics. If you have to cancel, it isn't a problem, but please let us know sooner rather than later. For a full refund, we ask you to let us know no later than midnight (US Eastern time zone) on the Wednesday before the clinic. That'll give us two days to try to fill your seat.

Lunch? Nothing fancy - we'll generally make sandwiches, have a side or two, and bottles of water handy. It'll taste good, and get you through the day without a growling stomach. Lunch is included in your registration fee.

Points? Registering online will allow you to use points (Folkcraft Picking Points, our rewards program) from previous purchases to pay for your registration. And your online registration earns you more points for future products and events at Folkcraft.

Concert? Informal - generally sitting up close and personal with the artists, enjoying some nice music and camaraderie. The concert isn't part of the Clinic, and is free and open to the public.

Skill level required? So long as you know the basics about dulcimer - a bit about reading tablature, how to use a pick, how to tune the instrument, that kind of thing - you'll have fun and learn something new. There are newer players in every clinic, as well as highly skilled musicians, looking for one more "nugget" of information to make them into even better players.

Dave is definitely worth the 2 1/2 hour drive to receive his excellent teaching. I have taken many seminars from him and have not ever been disappointed. His demeanor and knowledge of the dulcimer is gratifying to say the least. In summation, well worth the time and money for this opportunity.

Bing is a wonderful player and teacher

Bing is a wonderful performer and teacher. I always learn some staging from his classe. He is patient with advanced players and beginners alike. Very entertaining. I always enjoy taking his classes and listening to his performances. You will never be bored or intimidated.

A time to make music with friends!

I really enjoy opening up my cottage, located in northern Indiana, for a weekend during the summer to allow my hometown dulcimer group to have a getaway. We choose a Folkcraft Second Saturday artist we’d like to learn from and the planning begins. Good jamming and singing and fellowship. Organize a few friends to join you but beware— it becomes an annual event! We love it!
