The ultimate set of dulcimer strings. This is very nearly the string set we've been installing on new Folkcraft dulcimers since 2012. The only difference from our stock 4-string set is that this set has a slightly heavier bass string (a .026RW).

Strings in this set:
Melody strings (2) .011
Middle string: .013
Bass string: .026RW

The "RW" stands for Roller-Wound. The roller wound strings have a steel core, with a brass winding. The brass winding has been flattened with rollers, creating a warm sound with very little string squeak.

I am very satisfied with these strings. I put them on my Kurt Simerman dulcimer, and it really sings now! Great sustain, smooth to the touch, and comfortable. Yes, it is true that the bass string isn’t 100% silent, but I don’t want it to be. I love a little bit of that sweet string sound. It’s the perfect level of quiet/zip for me. These will be my go-to strings from now on 🙂
