Fret Position Reference Guide For Ukulele, Guitar, Banjo, Mandolin, And Other Chromatic Fretted Instruments

Item Number 1390018

Regular price $30.00

Figuring out “where the frets go” is one of the trickiest things about building a guitar or ukulele. This reference guide has detailed charts that show fret placement for every scale length from eight inches to thirty-two inches, in eighth-inch increments.

With this fret guide book you’ll be able to build the “perfect” fingerboard for your next project, and have a string instrument that sounds great.

This is not a book you’ll read from cover to cover - but it IS a book that you’ll keep in your shop, and use on a regular basis!

This fret guide book for building string instruments is published by Folkcraft® Instruments, under the Fingers Of Steel® imprint.

The author/compiler of this reference book is Folkcraft owner/luthier Richard Ash.

The pressure's off with fret slots

The fret board was my biggest concern when I began making my own dulcimers. This Book has made the "V" in VSL look smarter the builder. I highly recommend the use of a digital caliper and get the measurement to a Knat's wing. When you cut the fret slot and get off a fraction, it's more forgiving. I like my slots on the money too so don't short cut the fret board. This book makes a builder look like a pro.

Fret Spacing Reference book

We have been designing and building custom mountain dulcimers here in western Washington State for about 8 years and am only sorry it took this long to get this handy reference book. It is most helpful to have a column that shows the note name for each fret. The only thing that would have made it better would to have a column for measurements in fractions of inches for those of us that don't have rulers marked in 1,000's.

overall very good

I liked the set up of the spacing charts, with dimensions from fret to fret and nut to each individual fret it makes it easy to keep on track and avoid accumulated error.A little difficult to zero in to dimensions, but with a good rule and a digital caliper, doable. Happy with purchase.
