A Leap Forward!

I am going to include my review of the DulciVox that I posted on the Everything Dulcimer Facebook page. IMHO, it is quite the instrument! The volume is definitely louder than my other dulcimers but any tune, loud or soft, sounds great. The resonance and sustain of the instrument are impressive. I read somewhere a comparison of the sound of this new dulcimer to a tenor guitar, and in my very limited experience with tenor guitars, I can understand the comparison a little bit. The clarity when playing the melody on the bass string is notable. I ordered my DulciVox set up as chromatic and glad I did as I am a chromatic convert. My feeling is that this a great leap forward in the evolution of the mountain dulcimer! That is my non-professional review and looking forward to making a lot of music on the DulciVox!

All I Had Hoped For

I am not an early adopter of ANYTHING. Also, we recently downsized and I had "thinned the herd" a bit and never thought I'd buy another dulcimer. However, when I heard about the DulciVox, I knew I had to try it. I play mainly mellow, finger-picked music, and was looking for something I could play in a health care setting (where people tend to be hard of hearing) without having to use an amp. And I just wanted a big, full, mellow sound with lots of sustain., because that's what I like. My DulciVox arrived last week, and I love it. The VSL (25") and the action are perfect. Got a 1/2 fret (but not fully chromatic) and am so glad I did. The DulciVox is very versatile; great for both strumming and finger picking, in both the quiet setting and in a jam.

DulciVox Pro

The DulciVox is all I dreamed it would be. It has the tone and volume I’ve been looking for and it is able to cut through on solos even when jamming with guitars and other instruments. Paired with a McCafferty capo for shallow fretboards it is now my go-to jamming instrument. The plugged-in tone is pretty good, too
