Dulcimer Instructional Videos

February 24, 2023

Good morning, Y'all!

One of my goals for 2023 is to provide you with more "How-to" dulcimer videos. Mandy Tyner gave us 50+ videos in 2021 and 2022, so now I'm hoping to supplement her videos with more knowledge nuggets that you want to see.

I know there's a diverse range of skills among the newsletter subscribers, so I'm going to open this up for your ideas.

What type of video instruction would best support you along your dulcimer journey? What sounds interesting? Or, what would you find entertaining? I'm looking for specific, concrete ideas that I can give to a nationally-recognized dulcimer player (not Bing, not Mandy, but someone else you certainly know). I'm a decent dulcimer player, and can probably field the "general" music questions, but I happen to know more than one (ha!) amazing artist/instructor. Plus, I don't have time to do much video creation anyway. My best use of "awake-time" is working in the shop, making your next dulcimer.

It would be very helpful to us (and that nationally recognized dulcimer player) if, rather than suggesting something as broad, as say, "theory" - instead, give us suggestions for very specific things which you could use. Something like "What is a I, IV, and V chord in a dulcimer song?" Or, "Why does DAD tuning play exactly like CGC tuning?" Would you really think about this for a few minutes and then reply to this email with your suggestions? I would sure appreciate your input.

Thank you for all your help - Happy playing!
