Triple stripe dulcimers ready for shipping!
Good morning, Folkcraft supporters!
Well, it has happened. Something new for 2020. We began building a set of four dulcimers early last month - Aaron worked on some new fretboards, with inlay stripes down the middle of them. We really liked the look of one stripe, so in typical Folkcraft fashion, decided to try three stripes.
Over the past several weeks, you've seen the progression as we've moved from "fretboard stripe concept" to nearly finished instruments. And just for fun, we decided that the backs of the instruments deserved matching triple inlays, so we did the inlays there, too.
Oh, and we found some gorgeous curly cherry, so all four instruments were made with some spectacular Northern cherry, along with purpleheart fingerboard veneers, purpleheart stripes in the fingerboards and in the backs, and even purpleheart spacer blocks on the two dulcimers that have the Galax performance backs.
Here's what they looked like last week, after one coat of lacquer:

And here's what they look like now:
I've shown three of the dulcimers here. You can see photos of the backs, at Folkcraft.com, by clicking on any of the three front images (above).

All four of these instruments have a bright, clear sound with an incredible sustain. They all have our 25" scale length, for easy play even for smaller hands.
And, they all come with our rigid (plywood/foam/fabric) cases for great protection, and have free shipping worldwide.
That's all for this week - thank you for reading!
Sincerely,
Richard Ash
