Featured video, photo/bio, fun stuff at Folkcraft

Good morning, Folkcraft supporters!

Here's the latest newsletter - have fun with this one! We had a huge response to the Folkcraft players segment of last week's newsletter. This is an ongoing project, so please reply to this email with your photo (you and your Folkcraft dulcimer) and bio (short is good!). We'll put this in a special page at Folkcraft.com, and also feature you in an upcoming newsletter.

There are lots of other fun things happening at the Folkcraft shop, and I'll try to share a few of them here this week.

Featured video

This week's featured video is for the beginners. Three easy chords - chords you'll use every day. Mandy explains this very nicely - enjoy!

Here's a link to the page at Folkcraft.com that has the video, plus the PDF showing what she's playing (on paper, for the "visual learners")!

Featured Folkcraft player - Belinda (Missouri)

Hi there! My name is Belinda Link, and I live in the beautiful Missouri Ozarks. Music has been a big part of my life since I started piano lessons at age 8.

I had planned to major in Music in college, but after the first year I decided I wanted music to be my "Joy", not my "Job", so I changed my major to Social Work and Criminology, but continued applied piano and organ lessons from age 8 thru my college graduation.

I played either piano or organ in church since age 13, and in 2017 I resigned as full-time church organist after 30 years on the bench (due to profound degenerative hearing loss).

Belinda's bio continues on her page at Folkcraft.com. Click here to see more of the submitted photos and bios.

Featured PDF download

We now have many of the most in-demand artists' catalogs available for download at DulcimerDownloads.com! Bing Futch, Steve Seifert, Larry Conger, Aaron O'Rourke, and many, many more. (we're working on Linda Brockinton's books, and also on Dave Haas's books - so they're on the way!)

If you were to download just ONE repertoire book, here's the one you probably want. It is full of classic tunes, and this particular book is used by many, many dulcimer clubs as their go-to songbook:

Personally? I bought this book many years ago. And wore it out, then bought another copy. Then bought the download, and put it on my tablet. I have most of the tunes memorized at this point, they're played so often, but this is often one of the first books I recommend for a starter dulcimer book collection.

As always, thank you for your continued support of Folkcraft Instruments. We've been making dulcimers since 1968 - 53 years - and YOU are the reason we still make them.

That's all for this week - thank you for reading!

Sincerely,

Richard Ash
