I’ve tried using several different styles of pics since I started playing the dulcimers ago. At a workshop, years back, I listened to the pic I had been using, and a friend gave me one of these little yellow marvels. I love the clean crisp sound they offer and that each point of the triangle has a different thickness and can adjust the sound of the strike on the string. Since then I have used nothing else and will continue to keep plenty in stoc to offer a friend who may need one.
The instrument is a thing of beauty. Action is outstanding and a pleasure to play. Folkcraft shifted it to bass at no extra charge (and also sent the original nut, bridge and strings). I just hope I can learn to play well enough to deserve it. A true pleasure to business with these folks.
This is a great book to advance our music quest of becoming better dulcimer players. This book helps us to understand the complexities of expanding beyond the melody line.
Dave's books never disappoint. I picked up this one to further my dulcimer journey, after attending Dave's workshops at the Evart FunFest. He represents Folkcraft well and has a great way to teach, live or through his books.
So many times in this book. If you only had this one tune book it could keep you entertained for a good while! A wonderful way to sharpen your dulcimer playing.
Saw them recommended on a Banjolemonade video for DAA tuning. Sounds good, and sent very quickly.
replace all 32 sets of strings with bronze wound strings, sound is smooth and clean. thank you
I ordered the 2” strap and find it very well made and useful for stabilizing the dulcimer on my lap. The quick release buckles are handy. On the 2” strap they are a bit bulky though. If you have arthritis you might find them tricky to unclip.
I routinely restring my instruments on a schedule of every 3-4 months, depending on how much I play that given instrument. Folkcraft offers excellent strings at affordable prices, with several choices of string gauge.

I received the music book, “Catskill Mountains Waltzes and Airs” and immediately sat down to strum through the pages. Some of the songs were familiar because I have long been a fan of Jay Ungar. Those I was not familiar with, I found online and was able to play, listen and learn the tune and rhythm. I love them all! Now I have an entire collection of new songs, beautifully tabbed, to learn and enjoy.
He was a fabulous teacher!! Love his workshops!!
